Our Protection Pledge
Equipped for safety,
Prepared for anything
Sindh Lakhra Coal Mining Company (SLCMC) adheres to comprehensive health and safety practices aligned with Sindh’s regulatory framework, including the Sindh Coal Act 2012 and Sindh Coal Mines Rules 2016, enforced by the Inspectorate of Coal Mines. The company’s safety measures including the company’s safety protocols include procurement of self-contained breathing apparatus, electronic gas detectors, fully equipped ambulances, and a fully functional dispensary for first-aid. Regular evacuation drills and safety rehearsals are conducted to prepare workers for emergencies
Despite these measures, studies report significant occupational health challenges among miners, including respiratory, skin, and eye problems, with only a small percentage trained in proper safety practices. Frequent hazards such as roof falls, gas exposure, slips, and musculoskeletal injuries are common in the region’s coal mines. The Inspectorate enforces safety standards via inspections and accident investigations to protect miner welfare. SLCMC continuously strives to improve safety training, emergency preparedness, and health services in its operations This safety framework for SLCMC reflects both the legal compliance requirements and the practical challenges seen in Lakhra coal mining operations, emphasizing a commitment to worker safety, health, and environmental responsibility.
