The Sindh Lakhra Coal Mining Company (SLCMC) was established in 2016 by the Energy Department, Government of Sindh, with a definitive mandate: to develop and champion our indigenous coal resources safely, efficiently, and responsibly. From our inception, we have dedicated ourselves to fortifying the mining sector while actively driving the socio-economic advancement of our province.

Since securing our 13,000-acre concession at the Lakhra Coal Field in 2018 and commencing operations in 2019, our focus has extended far beyond operational extraction. We have initiated a comprehensive suite of community and safety programs that reflect our core values. These include establishing a fully equipped Mine Rescue Centre, deploying advanced emergency response units, and operationalizing a dedicated dispensary staffed by qualified medical professionals. Furthermore, our installation of a 6,000-gallon-per-day RO plant, systematic backfilling of abandoned mines, and extensive tree plantation drives underscore our unwavering commitment to occupational safety, environmental stewardship, and public welfare.

Looking ahead, SLCMC is actively driving exploration and development. Through targeted drilling programs and rigorous technical studies, we are expanding our coal reserves and resolving complex engineering challenges, such as groundwater management. Simultaneously, we are broadening our horizons to explore additional mineral resources across Sindh through scientific surveys, reflecting our vision to diversify and fortify the province’s mineral economy.
